When we think of Hollywood in the “old days”, we usually think of Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Jimmy Stewart - just to name a few. But how many of us would think of “Doris Day”? Yes, Mama “D” was named “Doris” after this very versatile actress/singer/dancer. She was adored by Mama “D’s” papa back in those days. So, she was aptly named “Doris”. Am I repeating myself here?
Anyway, to cut the long story short, lately, Mama “D” had been surfing the web to check out DD’s videoclips and she stumbled upon quite a few. Obviously, she didn’t expect to find a well-recorded one. But find she did, and so, without further ado, here it is for your “listening pleasure”.
Her voice is as “crisp” as ever. It’s nice to just listen to the simple melodies and lyrics that accompany such evergreen hits. Life seemed so “simple” then - so peaceful and serene. When compared to the way things are nowadays, it’s no wonder that we sometimes wish that we could turn back the clock and go back to how it was. Sigh… those good ol’ days.
If you chanced upon this blog post and you’re too young to enjoy Doris Day, do us (both Mama “D” and I) a favor and play the videoclip for your folks. I know they will thank you for it.
